Brief Introduction of us
 Student affairs division (Students Office) of Shanghai Maritime University is a functional department for school Party committee and administrative department to perform student education, management and service, with Students' Ideological Education Office, Student Management Office, Dormitory Management Office, the Admissions Office, College Students Employment Guidance Center, Student Financial Aid Management Centre, Students' Mental Health Education and Consultation Center. Armed Forces Department and Students Office are co-located. Under the leadership of director, the above seven institutions, with both division and cooperation, co-complete the nearly 20,000 school students' ideological and political education and administrative affairs management to serve the growth and success of students.

Responsibilities include:

l Perform the ideological and political education with patriotism, collectivism and socialism as the main theme, through ideal and belief education, situation and policy education, moral character education, the legal system of law and order education, freshmen education, career development education, mental health education, etc. to guide students to establish a correct world outlook, outlook on life and values;

l Responsible for full-time and part-time counselor team building and attempting to enhance students' workforce professionalism and connotation;

l Open selective courses of students' psychological health education, as well as group counseling, psychological counseling clinic, conduct mental health survey analysis and guide students' psychological associations, etc. to improve the quality of students' psychological;

l Open selective courses of university career planning and career guidance, hold vocational counseling, introduce enterprises to develop employment publicity and campus recruitment; train college students career planning and development awareness, improve the careers and employability of university students.

l Establish the college students comprehensive quality evaluation system and student incentive mechanisms, appraise and recognize advanced students collectives and individuals, review and distribute all kinds of scholarships, promote the formation of the excellent academic atmosphere;

l Handle student discipline events, educate students who violate the discipline to resist the evil wind, restore and uphold righteousness and to promote the formation of good school discipline;

l Establish aid system for students with financial problems, organize and implement the national student loans, social assistance, tuition remission, the temporary hardship grants, work-study, as well as medical insurance and other activities, to solve the worries of students from poor families;

l Standardize student community management and  strengthen the construction of community culture to enhance students' self-management and self-education ability.

l Organization and implement military training of freshmen. Organize and set up the shooting sports team of university students, directed cross-country team and other groups. Do a good job in the work of the national defense education of college Students and university students conscription into the army.

Over the years, under the correct leadership of the school Party committee and administrative department, students work of our university guides students in the overall work with the scientific concept of development, conscientiously implements the Party's education policy, puts the socialist core value system into the whole process of the students work , fully implements the spirit of No. 16 document from the central government, works tightly around the school center, serves personnel and train the overall situation, and constantly improves the working standard of student affairs management, and enhance the effectiveness of the students' ideological and political education and makes a positive contribution to school personnel training and reform, development and stability of work.
